APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR MEASURING SHAPE OF COIL SPRING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly measure a shape of a coil spring from captured images of the coil spring. SOLUTION: An shape measurement apparatus 10 includes: a laser 14 for irradiating a surface of the coil spring 30 with a slit light 15 expanded in the axial direction of the coil spring 30; a rotating stage 12 for rotating the coil spring 30 around its axis; a CMOS camera 16 for capturing a light reflected from the surface of the coil spring 30; and a computer 22 for calculating coordinate values of a wire of the coil spring 30 from the images captured by the CMOS camera 16 at a plurality of rotation angles when the coil spring 30 is rotated around its axis. The shape measurement apparatus 10 can correctly identify a position of the coil spring 30 from the captured images of the coil spring 30, and can correctly measure the shape of the coil spring 30.
