A spray nozzle 2 mounted for universal swivelling in a washing- machine is carried at one end of a control shaft 1 and is adjustable by a handle 3 at the opposite end. Coaxial joint pins 4, 5 on the shaft are pivoted in bearings 6, 7 in a casing 8, and spray liquid which is laterally supplied to the casing by a pipe 16 flows to the spray nozzle via a hole 9 in the pin 4. The casing 8 is pivotally mounted in a stationary casing 15 located in the washing- machine; for this purpose coaxial pins 11, 12 extending from the sides of the casing 8 are pivoted in bearings 13, 14 in the casing 15. The axes of the two pairs of pins are at right-angles and they intersect the longitudinal axes of the control shaft at a common point O. Bores 17, 18 in the pins 5 and 12 equalize liquid pressure on the pin bearings. Liquid sealing sleeves 21-24 surround the pins. A valve stem 25 within the control shaft is normally urged forwardly by a spring 28, whereby its head 26 cuts-off nozzle flow. To effect spraying the valve is retracted by the handle 3, and it may be held in the spraying position by transverse pins 29 on the valve stem which, when the stem is retracted, are removed from a slot 30 in the end of the control shaft, and then by turning the stem about its axis engage the end of the shaft. |
