<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing member for efficiently producing a retardation film that optically compensates a retardation by the induced birefringence of liquid crystal cells to a high degree. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The member for manufacturing a retardation film is a long-length member used, in the method for manufacturing a retardation film where a thermoplastic resin film is shrunk to obtain a retardation film, for applying shrinkage force by heating to the thermoplastic resin film, which includes: a shrinkable film wherein the shrinkage force<SP>160</SP>(TD) in the width direction at 160°C lies in the range of 0 to 1.3 N/2 mm, the shrinkage force T<SP>140</SP>(TD) in the width direction at 140°C lies in the range of 0.2 to 1.2 N/2 mm, the shrinkage percentage S<SP>160</SP>(TD) in the longitudinal direction at 160°C is ≤13%, and also, the shrinkage percentage<SP>160</SP>(TD) in the width direction at 160°C is ≤24%; and a binder layer with a thickness of 1 to 30 μm laminated on the shrinkable film.
