<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a particle photographing apparatus for solving the problem of the blur of a particle image in a direct photographing method without damaging the beneficial point of the direct photographing method and measuring the feature quantity of particles. <P>SOLUTION: The particle photographing apparatus (1) is equipped with the probe (1a) inserted into fluid containing a particle group (P), a photographing device (10) for imaging the particle group, and illumination means (5 and 6) for supplying background illumination. The axial part of the probe has a particle group passage traversing the axial part and a passage width regulating means (4) for regulating the passage width of the particle group passage so that the particle group may pass through the range of the depth of the projection field of the photographing device.
