Process and apparatus for attaching cardboard riders to filled plastic bags

The attachment of cardboard riders (2) to plastic bags (1) takes place, after the latter have been filled at a filling station (3), in the course of a production line, through which the bags run individually and on which the placing of the riders onto the bags and the connection of the rider and bag are carried out at stations (4, 14) arranged in succession. The transport of the bags (1) from the filling station (3) to the placing-on station (4) and the further transport of the bags (1) provided with the placed-on riders (2) to the connecting station (14) take place between pairs of conveying elements which are moved synchronously in one direction and which, at the connecting station (14), simultaneously transmit the connecting force and/or connecting temperature to the rider (2) and to the bag located between them. A run-through of the bags in close succession, with a high throughput capacity, is thereby obtained. <IMAGE>
