PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce sizes and power consumption of a primary frequency standard of an atomic clock and its physics package for achieving both military applications and civilian applications. SOLUTION: A physics package 10 for an atomic clock includes a block 20, and the block 20 is formed of optical glass, a glass ceramic material or another suitable material. The physics package 10 includes a plurality of angled measurement bores 22, 24 that function as a vacuum chamber cavity, and light paths. The physics package 10 is fixed by using a vacuum airtight seal at a predetermined location outside the block 20. At the predetermined location, two light paths intersect. The physics package 10 includes an optically-clear window, which in turn is fixed at a predetermined location located in openings of the measurement bores 22, 24 outside the block by using a vacuum airtight seal, and the two light paths intersect at the location. The physics package 10 has a fill tube, which is fixed at an end of the vacuum chamber cavity outside the block 20 by using a vacuum airtight seal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
