PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspecting device for detecting abnormality of binding state a binding wire during a process for manufacturing a saddle stitch book. SOLUTION: Means 2, 3 for detecting presence or absence of the saddle stitch book detect the saddle stitch book 5 itself flowing on a conveying passageway 7 and operate a detecting means 4 of abnormality of binding state of the binding wire 6. The detecting means 4 of binding state abnormality of the binding wire 6 is arranged in an upstream or/and a downstream of the detecting means 4 for detecting presence or absence of the saddle stitch book 5. The clearance d between the detecting means 4 of binding state abnormality of the binding wire 6 and the means 2, 3 for detecting presence or absence of the saddle stitch book 5 is not longer than the length of the binding wire 6 for binding. The detecting means 4 of binding state abnormality of the binding wire 6 detects the binding wire 6 abnormally folded and bent and not bound of the saddle stitch book 5 and outputs signals.
