<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image carrier driving unit and an image forming apparatus which facilitate assembly of driving parts and angle adjustment and suppress color shifting and density unevenness. <P>SOLUTION: To configure a photoreceptor driving unit 10 so as to be attachable/detachable to/from a body frame 2 of the image forming apparatus 1. The photoreceptor driving unit 10 includes a row of photoreceptor drives such as a photoreceptor driving gear for driving the photoreceptor arranged between two side plates. In this embodiment, a row of developing drives for driving the developing unit is also arranged in the unit 10. Adjustment after assembling to the body is not necessary since the photoreceptor driving unit 10 has adjustment such as positional accuracy, angle accuracy or phase matching in the row of photoreceptor drives carried out in the unit state.
