摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the length of a wave guide by disposing the magnetron adjacent to the internal combustion engine and to restrain breakage of a cathode part of the magnetron by mechanical vibration in an igniter comprising a spark-ignition internal combustion engine for igniting a fuel/air mixture by generating plasma in a combustion chamber and reacting the plasma with spark discharge by an ignition plug and a magnetron used in combination for generating a microwave for generating the plasma. <P>SOLUTION: The igniter used in combination with a spark-ignition internal combustion engine for igniting a fuel/air mixture by reacting spark discharge by an ignition plug and plasma produced in a combustion chamber is used in combination with a magnetron comprising a cathode part for discharging electrons and an anode part for accelerating the discharged electrons with respect to the cathode part, and a magnet part for forming a magnetic field in the interaction space of the cathode part and the anode part for producing plasma in the combustion chamber.
