The present invention relates to a method for controlling pests or increasing the health of a cultivated plant as compared to a corresponding control plant comprising the appli- cation of a sterol biosynthesis inhibitor to the plant with at least one modification, parts of such plants, plant propagation materials, or at their locus of growth.
