The present invention relates to a method of preparing a waste load for thermolytic treatment in which: the waste is shredded with a primary grinder/shredder (3); the large metal elements are removed using a metal detector (31); the waste is screened using a screening means (5), in order to separate the waste of a size greater than a size L1; the waste obtained in the previous step, the size of which is greater than L1, is ground a second time using a secondary grinder (8); the waste of a size smaller than L1 is sent to a dryer (200) in which the waste is dried using a stream of hot air; and, downstream of the dryer, the wet air is separated in a separator (201) from the solid elements using suction means.
