PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic product and a raw material for the cosmetic product having valuable action and effect by using Euglena, and to obtain a cosmetic component effective for preventing damage of skin cells by ultraviolet rays or proliferating fibroblast cells and to provide a cosmetic product containing the component and a method for producing the cosmetic product. SOLUTION: The cosmetic product contains a water-soluble component extracted by proteolytic decomposition of cells of an algae belonging to the genus Euglena such as Euglena gracilis, as an active component for preventing the damage of skin cells or proliferating fibroblast cells. The method for producing a raw material for a cosmetic product for preventing the damage of skin cells by ultraviolet rays or proliferating fibroblast cells comprises autoclave treatment of the cell of the algae belonging to the genus Euglena under pressure between atmospheric pressure and 0.255 MPa heating at 100-150°C for 1-30 min, treatment of the product with a proteolytic enzyme and collection of the water-soluble component.
