<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper capable of avoiding a crash onto a stopper or the like, even when a large rotational force is unexpectedly applied to a rotary member by a strong wind or a careless large force by a person, capable of enhancing operability, capable of compactifying a size, and applicable even to a small space around a hinge mechanism of a side door for a front seat of an automobile, and the hinge mechanism with the damper for an automobile door using the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This damper 1 includes: a storage body 2; a shaft member 4 rotatable relatively with respect to the storage body 2 along a direction A around an axial center 3 as the center; a fluid body 5 arranged in the storage body 2, to impart a resistance force against the A-directional relative rotation of the shaft member 4 with respect to the storage body 2, and comprising an oil such as silicone oil, a viscous body, a viscoelastic body or the like; and a resistance force increasing means 6 for increasing temporarily the resistance force imparted to the A-directional relative rotation of the shaft member 4 with respect to the storage body 2 by the fluid body 5, in the midway of the A-directional relative rotation of the shaft member 4 with respect to the storage body 2.
