PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for appropriately performing speech recognition of a place name regardless of corresponding relationships between changes of the place name and a version of map data. SOLUTION: When a navigator does not recognize the place name by a speech recognition dictionary held in the navigator itself, for the speech data of the place name which is input by a user, the speech data and version information are transmitted to a server (S105). The corresponding place name is recognized from a speech recognition dictionary with a different version, in a server side (S202). The recognition result by the server is converted to a recognition result suited to a version of the map data included in the navigator of a request person (S206), and returned to the navigator (S209).
