<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage cabinet and a lock unit which can secure a high degree of security at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The storage cabinet 1 reads the IC chip data of an IC chip 52 by contacting a plurality of terminals 53, 54 of an electronic key 51, and passes a current through a solenoid 27 when just authority has been authenticated based on the IC chip data. Then the storage cabinet 1 moves an operation shaft 28 from a rotation-prevention position where the rotation of a lever shaft 37 is prevented to a rotation-permission position where the rotation of the lever shaft 37 is permitted. The storage cabinet 1 has a release cam 46 which is arranged in the lever shaft 37 and which undergoes displacement from a lock position to a lock-release position. In the lock position, the release cam 46 is pressed by the electronic key 51 which is inserted in the lever shaft 37, and prevents the rotation of the lever shaft 37.
