<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can form an image of an excellent quality by lessening the attachment of tracks of rollers onto a conveyed sheet as much as possible. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a pair of rollers (8a and 8b), a sheet holding part (40) which holds the front end of the sheet at a non-conveyance time on the downstream side from the roller pair, and a printing part (11) which forms the image on the conveyed sheet on the further downstream side. When the sheet is held with the sheet holding part (40) at the non-conveyance time, holding of the sheet with the roller pair is released, to lessen the attachment of tracks onto the sheet. The sheet holding part (40) enters into a conveyance path B when holding the sheet front end, and retreats from the conveyance path when the sheet is conveyed. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
