<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of carrying failure of a medium, without generating a large carrying load. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus has a placing table for setting the medium, a paper feeding roller 46 rotatably arranged by contacting with the medium set on the placing table and feeding the medium, and a guide member juxtaposed on both sides in the axial direction of the paper feeding roller 46 and guiding the feeding medium. The guide member is arranged by being energized toward the medium so as to be freely displaced in the vertical direction to a surface of the medium.
