<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector allowing rapid replacement of a light source without using a tool or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This projector 1 modulates an optical flux emitted by a light source 7 according to an image signal, and projects the formed image light. The light source 7 is mounted on an optical unit 8. When a lever 72 that has a substantial U-shape and is journaled onto a side surface of the light source 7 is at a first position, a lever-side fixed section 72b engages with a case-side fixed section 78, can be fixed to the optical unit 8, and is kept to be fixed by an elastic force P3 of a torsion coil spring 73 for fixation as a first elastic member. When the lever 72 is at a second position, the lever-side fixed section 72b separates from the case-side fixed section 78, the fixing to the optical unit 8 can be released, and the release of the fixing is kept by an elastic force Q1 of a torsion coil spring 74 for release as a second elastic member.
