The device has a sensor unit (1) i.e. cardiac frequency measuring instrument, for sequential detection of a physical parameter i.e. cardiac frequency, of the driver, where the sensor unit is self-operatable. An evaluation unit (2) evaluates sensor signals of the sensor unit. A warning unit (3) e.g. optical warning unit, warns the driver if the micro-sleep of the driver is detected. A storage unit (4) stores the sensor signals. The sensor unit is arranged and/or integrated in a seat belt of a driver's seat.
