<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium test method and a device, and a program, wherein a medium test which is suitable for DTM is applied. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the medium test method, a medium test is performed by including: an error detecting procedure for detecting error data indicating medium defect by writing and reading out a test signal for a magnetic recording medium in which a land part recording data and a groove part separating land parts are arranged on a medium plane in the concentric circular state; a first mask procedure for masking error data detected from the land part from error data; and a second mask procedure for masking error data detected from a servo region of the magnetic recording medium from error data.
