PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering apparatus capable of increasing continuous possibility of assist force application in case of a failure in a torque sensor. SOLUTION: A microcomputer, if a failed Hall IC cannot be identified (step 103: NO) by deviation determination (step 102) from a predetermined output range regarding each output voltages and sudden change determination (step 103), determines whether or not the directions in converting the respective output voltages into steering torques are the same (step 106). When the directions in converting into the steering torques are the same, a temporary torque is calculated using an average value of the respective output voltages. Based on the temporary torque, power assist control is continued, and in more detail, an assist force relative to a steering system is gradually decreased (step 107). COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
