<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device which saves a recording capacity for motion picture image data. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The imaging device has an image data generator 5 which generates image data composed of a plurality of frames at a specified time interval based on imaging signals outputted from an image sensor 3 that photographs object light, an extraction part 7 which extracts image information in main object areas that have a specified or larger contrast for each of the image data composed of the plurality of frames, which are generated by the image data generator, a background image generator 7 which generates background images based on the image data composed of the plurality of frames, which are generated by the image data generator, a storage part 12 which stores pseudo motion picture information where the image information in the main object areas for each of the image data composed of the plurality of frames, which is extracted by the extraction part, is added with time information when each of the image data composed of the plurality of frames is generated, and the background images generated by the background image generator, and a pseudo motion picture display controller 7 which displays pseudo motion pictures using the pseudo motion picture information and background images stored in the storage part.
