The present invention relates to a method for picture quality control and an image display apparatus based on the same. The method for picture quality control comprises a step wherein a first pattern and a second pattern are displayed; a step wherein a control value is input; and a step wherein the state whereby the first pattern is displayed is changed according to the control value that has been input; the display state of the second pattern does not change depending on the control value.
