<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soil removing device crushing large lumps included in excavated soil excavated by a shield machine, into small pieces to prevent a screw conveyor from being blocked with the large lumps, thereby smoothly carrying them out backward. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The front end opening of the screw conveyor 6 faces a sediment storage chamber 4 between a cutter plate 2 and a bulkhead 3 in the shield machine, and the front end of a rotating center shaft 8 of the screw conveyor 6 and the front end of a screw blade 9 stuck to the rotating center shaft 8, are projected into the sediment storage chamber 4. Several support protrusions 14-16 are protrusively provided at each predetermined circumferential space on the facing surfaces of the front and rear blade parts 9a, 9b in these projecting parts and on the rotating center shaft 8. While supporting the large lumps A in the erected state by the adjacent support protrusions 14-16, the large lumps A are pressed to the front face of the bulkhead 3 by the rotation of the screw blade 9 and crushed into small pieces.
