<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily attach a door checker for an automobile to a body side and a door side so that the door checker can be adapted to the assembled opening position of a door. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This door checker for an automobile includes a hinge member 12 fixed to a body, a check arm 20 one end of which is connected to the hinge member 12, a case 30 which is fixed to the door and into which the intermediate portion of the check arm 20 is inserted, a holding member 38 for holding the check arm 20 by an elastic force in the case 30, and a stopper 40 fixed to the other end of the check arm 20. A groove part 23k for assembling to which the holding member 38 of the case 30 is fitted when the door is rotated to the assembled opening position relative to the body is formed in the check arm 20. The case 30 is held at the position of the groove part 23k for assembling by fitting the holding member 28 into the groove part 23k for assembling.
