<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a highly accurate frame interpolation apparatus by decreasing misdetections of an iterative pattern. <P>SOLUTION: A frame interpolation apparatus includes a motion vector detecting means 104 for detecting a motion vector; a distribution detecting means for detecting the distribution of spatial frequency components of an input frame image; a feature analyzing means for analyzing features of the input image frame from the distribution of spatial frequency components detected by the distribution detecting means; a control means for controlling the motion vector detecting means, according to the features detected by the feature analysis means; an interpolation frame creating means for creating an interpolation image by using the detected motion vector, according to the features detected by the feature analysis means; and an output means for outputting the input frame image and an output frame image in which the number of frames is increased, by inserting the interpolation frame image created by the interpolation frame creating means between the input frame images. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
