<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver reducing the consumption power of an oscillatory-wave motor not under operation and capable of preventing the generation of the tooth-jump of a gear and the breaking of a tooth surface. <P>SOLUTION: A pan tilt camera 100 includes a camera 102, a pan unit 115, the oscillatory-wave motors 103 and 110, encoder sensors 106 and 113, and encoder scales 107 and 114. The oscillatory-wave motors 103 and 110 include piezoelectric elements 7, vibrators 2, slider members 3, rotors 4, and shafts 10. When the camera 102 or the pan unit 115 is rotated manually by a user immediately after the stop of the oscillatory-wave motor 103, encoder pulses are detected by the encoder sensor 106 (113). A controller 20 generates a pulse signal corresponding to a standing wave from a voltage-controlled oscillator 23, and supplies a driver A25 and a driver B26 with the pulse signal through a driving-pulse generator 24.
