<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch panel which disposes an electrode for electric field communication. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A transparent electrode is used as the electric field communication electrode 31. As a result, the image on a display screen to which the touch panel is attached transmits therethrough. The electric field communication electrode 31 having a large area along the touch screen of the touch panel can be disposed thereby. The electric field communication electrode 31 is formed in the unused space of the surface on which a transparent electrode 21 for touch position detection is formed. The thickness of the touch panel is then reduced. A switch circuit 40 for switching the connection destination of a transparent electrode 22 in accordance with the touching state between an electric field communication circuit 50 or a switch circuit 51 is provided, and thereby the transparent electrode 22 also becomes usable as an electrode for electric field communication.
