<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that a conventional perimeter does not calculate the ratio of a visual field defect area to a macular area and the degree of visual field defects to the macular area of a subject is not numerically grasped by the conventional perimeter, or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The macular area visual field defect index calculation apparatus includes a visual field search image generation means, a fixation target display control means, a search area setting means, a search point setting means, a visual target display control means, a first counting means, a second detection means, a second counting means, and a visual field defect index calculation means for dividing the number of times counted by the second counting means and stored in a storage device by a total number counted by the first counting means and stored in the storage device. A search area is mainly limited to a macular area and set. Thus, the macular area visual field defect index calculation apparatus can calculate the ratio of the visual field defect area to the macular area as an index and numerically grasp the degree of the visual field defect to the macular area.
