THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE METHOD FOR DETECTING AND SEROTYPING DENGUE VIRUS THAT INCLUDES DENGUE VIRUS-SPECIFIC PRIMERS AND DENGUE VIRUS SEROTYPE-SPECIFIC PROBES FOR USE IN REVERSE TRANSCRIPTASE-POLYMERASE CHAIN REACTION (RT-PCR). ACCORDINGLY, THE PRESENT INVENTION PROVIDES SPECIFIC PRIMERS WHICH AMPLIFY WITH THE NON-STRUCTURAL PROTEIN 5 (NS5) TARGET GENOMIC REGION THAT ENCODES VIRAL RNA POLYMERASE FOR ALL SUBTYPES (1-4) OF DENGUE VIRUS, AND SEROTYPE-SPECIFIC PROBES WHICH HYBRIDIZE WITH FOUR SUB-REGIONS WITHIN THE AMPLIFIED NS5 TARGET REGION TO SPECIFICALLY DIFFERENTIATE AND IDENTIFY DENGUE VIRUS SEROTYPE 1, 2, 3, AND 4, THE INVENTION ALSO RELATES TO A DIAGNOSTIC KIT FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTIVE METHOD.
