<p>A system is disclosed that features a transport vehicle 101 in which a responsive object 111 is present, such as an automobile in which a cellular phone is present, in which the object 111 is equipped to provide location data when queried. The vehicle 101 is fitted with sensors 131, 141 that detect the responsive object 111 and the location of the vehicle respectively. A proxy 121 is provided that represents the responsive object 111. Using information from the sensors 131, 141, the proxy 121 responds to a location query on behalf of the responsive object 111 if it is determined that the object 111 is within the vehicle 101. The proxy 121 is preferably configured such that it is better able than the responsive object 111 to estimate the responsive object's 111 location. For example, the location sensor 141 may be a GPS receiver, whilst the responsive object uses mobile telephone triangulation to estimate position data. Preferably, sensors 142, 143 detect state and environmental information of the vehicle 101, such as temperature, humidity, barometric pressure. A transaction terminal 151 at a known location is preferably provided and a transaction validator 161 may authorise a transaction based upon a comparison of the location data from the terminal 151 and the proxy 121.</p> |
