PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite body in which the surfaces of metal grains are coated with a mesoporous material. SOLUTION: The composite body in which the surfaces of metal grains are coated with a mesoporous material is produced by a method comprising: a stage where a mesoporous material is produced on the surfaces of the metal grains using a surfactant as a mold; and a stage where the surfactant is removed by solvent extraction. By the method, the composite body in which the pores of the mesoporous material pass through from the surfaces of the metal grains to an almost vertical direction can be suitably produced.
