PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating composition for metal thin films which is excellent in adhesion, particularly hot-cold repetitive adhesion, to a metal thin film, and forms a coating film capable of imparting high water resistance, rust prevention, alkali resistance, and abrasion resistance to the metal thin film with high productivity, and to achieve a lustrous composite coating film formed using the same. SOLUTION: The coating composition for metal thin films for covering the metal thin film provided on a substrate surface includes a coating film-forming component comprising 3-12 mass% of a thiol compound having two or more thiol groups and an active energy ray curable compound (excluding a thiol compound having one or more thiol groups). The lustrous composite coating film comprises the metal thin film provided on the substrate surface and a coating film formed from the coating composition for metal thin films such that the coating film covers the metal thin film.
