<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a photoreceptor having favorable characteristics without increasing the cost by enhancing the chargeability which is proportional to the film thickness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The photoreceptor has a photoconductive layer comprising a first photoconductive layer and a second photoconductive layer formed in this order on a substrate. When absorption intensities in an IR absorption spectrum at a wavenumber of 2,000 cm<SP>-1</SP>and at a wavenumber of 2,090 cm<SP>-1</SP>of the first photoconductive layer are denoted by Ia<SB>1</SB>and Ib<SB>1</SB>, respectively, and when absorption intensities in an IR absorption spectrum at the wavenumber of 2,000 cm<SP>-1</SP>and at the wavenumber of 2,090 cm<SP>-1</SP>of the second photoconductive layer are denoted by Ia<SB>2</SB>and Ib<SB>2</SB>, respectively, an absorption intensity ratio R<SB>1</SB>of the first photoconductive layer and an absorption intensity ratio R<SB>2</SB>of the second photoconductive layer are defined as R<SB>1</SB>=Ib<SB>1</SB>/Ia<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>=Ib<SB>2</SB>/Ia<SB>2</SB>, respectively, and R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>satisfy the relationship of 0.5≤R<SB>1</SB>≤2.0 and R<SB>1</SB>>R<SB>2</SB>. The refractive index n<SB>1</SB>of the first photoconductive layer satisfies 2.2≤n<SB>1</SB>≤3.0. Ž<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT Ž
