CONTACT LENS LOADING OR PRESERVING AGENT AND AGAR-CONTAINING OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact lens loading or preserving agent and an agar-containing ophthalmic solution, both containing a composition for stabilizing a lacrimal fluid layer for a long time and for smoothly keeping the lacrimal fluid layer of the surface of an eyeball. SOLUTION: The contact lens loading or preserving agent and the agar-containing ophthalmic solution include an agar composition which contains agar and water as indispensable components and of which the deposited agar amount after centrifugal separation at 25°C and 40,000×g for one hour with a centrifugal separator is less than 65 wt.%. The loading or preserving agent and the ophthalmic solution have stabilizing activity of a lacrimal fluid layer superior to the result of the test of variation of irregularity of a cornea surface. Therefore, the loading or preserving agent and the ophthalmic solution have an efficacy for stably maintaining the lacrimal fluid layer of an ocular surface for a long time and are also available for an artificial lacrimal fluid.
