<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal halide lamp for an automobile headlamp having a structure in which a conduction lead wire of an arc tube is exposed at the outside of an outer tube, in which the tube for protecting the lead is not damaged at the time of vehicle mounting. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the metal halide lamp for the automobile headlamp having a structure in which one of external lead wire of an arc tube is exposed at the outside of the outer tube, a protection tube to cover the external lead wire is constructed of a fluororesin.
