<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device for reducing force applied to an injection control valve for maintaining an injection state. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This fuel injection device has a nozzle body 40 and the injection control valve 20 for advancing and retreating in a first fuel storage chamber 41. The injection control valve 20 communicates a first fuel passage 51 with the first fuel storage chamber 41, and cuts off the first fuel storage chamber 41 and a third fuel passage 53, by advancing up to a first position, and cuts off the first fuel passage 51 and the first fuel storage chamber 41, and communicates the first fuel storage chamber 41 with the third fuel passage 53, by retreating up to a second position. The injection control valve 20 has a substantially columnar guide part 22 having an outside diametrical dimension D<SB>1</SB>, a substantially disk-like collar-shaped diametrically expanded part 23 having an outside diametrical dimension D<SB>2</SB>, and a substantially columnar closing part 24 having an outside diametrical dimension D<SB>3</SB>. The diametrically expanded part 23, the closing part 24 and the guide part 22 are formed so as to become small in order of the outside diametrical dimension D<SB>2</SB>of the diametrically expanded part 23, the outside diametrical dimension D<SB>3</SB>of the closing part 24 and the outside diametrical dimension D<SB>1</SB>of the guide part 22.
