Cooling apparatus with solar heat collector 2, multiple absorption refrigeration modules 1, each module arranged to receive heat from collector, re-circulate refrigerant through evaporator 16, the fluid to be cooled put into thermal contact with evaporator. Modules have generator 11 containing solution of refrigerant in liquid, arranged to receive heat from collector and cause evaporation of refrigerant; bubble pump 12 pumps liquid from generator to absorber 13; condenser 14 receives and condenses gaseous refrigerant; absorber 17,18 receives refrigerant from evaporator, absorbing it into liquid from bubble pump and returning liquid to generator. Evaporator cools air in air conditioning system or enclosed refrigerator cabinet. Module casing 4 defines path of cooling air, and partition walls 24 define evaporator housing with ports 21 to define interior space between side by side modules. Modules may be installed in roof space or on roof of buildings or on outside panel of cabinet. The device is used to power cooling systems in remote parts of world without mains electricity. |
