<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal panel free from plastic deformation even when an excessive load is applied thereto, and also, capable of suppressing light leakage and alignment irregularities due to slipping of a columnar spacer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Each of the columnar spacers 20A for use in the liquid crystal panel includes: a columnar part 20a composed of a column having prescribed height and thickness; a neck 20b having a prescribed height erected from the apex part of the columnar part 20a, and narrower than the columnar part 20a; a shoulder step part 20s formed at the boundary part between the columnar part 20a and the neck 20b; and a small protrusion 20c disposed on the apex part of the neck 20b. Regarding the liquid crystal panel, both substrates 14 and 2 are bonded each other so that the base part of the columnar part 20a of the columnar spacer 20A may be fixed to the one substrate 14, and the small protrusion 20c formed on the neck 20b may come in contact with an alignment film 12 disposed on the other substrate 2.
