<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to start and use a broadcast receiving apparatus much more quickly than before. <P>SOLUTION: The television broadcast receiving apparatus 1 allows various functions to be set concurrently with channel scanning processing to be performed before the use of the television broadcast receiving apparatus 1 begins, and then shortens the time in which the channel scanning processing and the setting of the various functions are both completed as compared with a case where the various functions are set before and after the channel scanning processing.
