PURPOSE: A contents playing apparatus and a control method thereof are provided to easily store contents in an external device by searching contents in the external device and storing the contents in a storage unit. CONSTITUTION: A contents playing apparatus include a connection unit, a storage unit, and a controlling unit. The connection unit is connected to an external device. The controlling unit searches contents saved in the external device and stores contents in the storage unit when the external device is connected through the connection unit. The controlling unit automatically stores contents to the storage unit when the external device is connected(S10). The controlling unit generates a folder for storing contents when the external device is connected(S20).
