PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical oil detector capable of maintaining its proper detection characteristic over a long period of time even if algae is attached to the outer circumferential surface of an optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical oil detector detects oil by using detection light which is made incident to the optical fiber from a light projecting section wherein light having a wavelength which suppresses the growth potential of the algae is employed as the detection light.
