PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a coating film by using an aqueous dispersion liquid having small dispersion particles and excellent adhesiveness to a substrate and further having excellent storage stability, the method exhibiting the characteristics of the above aqueous dispersion liquid. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a coating film includes steps of: preparing an aqueous dispersion liquid by dispersing a block copolymer (C) composed of a polymer block (A) essentially comprising olefin monomers and a polymer block (B) comprising 2 to 100 mol% of vinyl monomer units having a carboxylic anhydride group or a sulfonic acid group and 98 to 0 mol% of other copolymerizable vinyl monomer units, to an aqueous solution of a basic substance of 0.05 equivalent or more with respect to the substituents such as carboxyl groups; and forming a coating film by applying the above aqueous dispersion liquid on a substrate and drying to at a temperature higher by a range from 9°C to 26°C than the melting point of the polymer constituting the polymer block (A).
