PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, wherein moisture adsorbed in a photoreceptor drum is efficiently removed in a short time even when using a heating means having low wattage, and a high-quality image that avoids image deletion is outputted even when starting image formation after a short standby time. SOLUTION: When power is supplied to the image forming apparatus 100, a test electrostatic image is formed on the photoreceptor drum 1 and detected by a potential sensor 30. A rotating position of the photoreceptor drum where a peak value of a detection signal is low is specified, and operating time of a local heating device 50 is set so that heating time may be longer at the rotating position where the peak value is lower. The rotating position where the peak value is low is set to the local heating device 50 and the photoreceptor drum 1 is stopped. Then, a contact and separation mechanism 60 is operated so that local heating may be performed for the set time in a state where the local heating device 50 is brought into contact with the photoreceptor drum 1, whereby the moisture is efficiently evaporated.
