<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for producing a nitrogen-bridged derivative of a dibenz[c,e][1,2]-oxaphosphorin-6-oxide which is useful for a flame retardant for a polyester, a polyamide and the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for producing a bridged dibenz[c,e][1,2]-oxaphosphorin-6-oxide comprises converting a dibenz[c,e][1,2]-oxaphosphorin represented by formula I while dissociating a compound of the general formula HA using a polyhydric alcohol wherein A is a primary amino group and the like, x and y are integers of 0-4, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>are each similarly or differently a hydrogen atom, a linear or branched 1C-22C alkyl group and the like.
