PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing apparatus that can print by editing images with memories of a small capacity and using a plurality of screens.

SOLUTION: A screen area has a print area set to a first screen 70 in which one pixel has 4-byte information and a second screen 72 in which one pixel has 1-byte information. A full color image is plotted in the first screen 70 while a character and an illustration image are plotted on the second screen 72. The second screen 72 is superimposed on the first screen 70. Furthermore, an operation screen 74 in which one pixel has 4-bit information and which displays information required for device operation is superimposed to obtain a display screen 76 and RGB data is output so as to be displayed on a monitor. Contents of the first screen 70 and the second screen 72 are described as a script and this script is analyzed to create a print image and print it.
