PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochromic material capable of enhancing durability of an element, compared with conventional one, and capable of making thereby excellent sustainability of a coloring characteristic, and a color rewritable display using the material. SOLUTION: This electrochromic material has an electrochromic compound, a counter electrode reactant, and an ion stabilizer, and the ion stabilizer contains any of 1,2-diphenoxy ethane (DPE), tetra methyl benzine (TMB), triton-X and tetramethyl-p-phenylene diamine (TMPD).
