<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock device of a glove compartment, which enhances security by making a lid locked/unlocked via electromagnetic ID authentication, and which enables the lid to be locked/unlocked with a simple and inexpensive lock mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: On condition that an ID code transmitted from an electronic key is a legitimate one when the lid of the glove compartment of a vehicle is locked by making a lock bar 24b engaged with a lock bar storage recess, an electric current passes through an electromagnetic solenoid 36, and an operation cover 37 and the lock bar 24b are integrated together by a magnetic force. The operation of turning a control lever 9 in this case makes the lock bar 24b displaced together with the operation cover 37.
