CATALYST FOR DECOMPOSING VOLATILE ORGANIC MATTER AND METHOD OF DECOMPOSING VOLATILE ORGANIC MATTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst capable of decomposing an atmospheric volatile organic matter even in a dark place.

SOLUTION: This catalyst for decomposing a volatile organic matter containing a titanium oxide supporting at least, a cobalt oxide, (1) shows at least, a diffraction pattern of Co3O4in X-ray diffraction measurement, and (2) is characterized in that the titanium oxide alone shows photocatalytic activity under exposure to a visible light. Using this catalyst, the volatile organic matter such as aldehydes in the air can be decomposed even in a dark place.
