<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for brake-disk excellent in heat-cracking resistance. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The material used for forming the brake-disk 1 is composed of, by wt, 0.06-0.26% C, at least one kind among Mn, Si, Ni, Cr, Mo and V in the range of 0.31-0.66% carbon equivalent Ceq defined by Ceq=C+Mn/6+Si/24+Ni/40+Cr/5+Mo/4+V/14 and also in the range of ≤0.63% the total content of Mn and Ni, and the balance substantially Fe. Namely, the generation of martensitic structure in the part of a brake-pad 4 sliding with the brake-disk 1 is suppressed by lowering the contents of elements for enhancing the quenchability, thereby preventing the heat-cracking caused by partial tempering of the martensitic structure.
